Marking on an oil bottle (PET)

oil marking Macsa

PET containers are the most frequently used ones in the industry thanks to their resistance, flexibility and its ease of molding. In this case, a QR code + 1 line of text (Macsa’s website) were marked on an oil bottle (PET). The difficulty of this type of marking is to ensure that the coding is visible and readable on the transparent plastic and on a material that can easily become greasy during the production chain process.

The marking visibility is high because the marking obtained is white on the transparent plastic and on the background, which is yellow in this case. With the appropriate power of the laser (30W), a QR code mark is produced which is perfectly readable with any mobile application.

Marking and coding generally indicate the serial number, the batch number, the expiry date and so on, but this time we are going to focus on when a warning message needs to be added, and specifically the marking of a safety logo.

By means of an ‘etching’ system (vacuum engraving mode) and the use of the correct typeface, a permanent mark can be achieved. In this process, the surface is not damaged and visibility is increased thanks to the sharp contrast of the white mark on a black surface.

Identification document production requires increasingly more secure and permanent printing and marking technology.

The Macsa K-1030 HPD laser is a CO2 laser with a high energy density able to perforate multiple sheets within a passport, thereby replacing traditional mechanical processes.

Using the Macsa Crystal font this laser combines fine beam quality with high power density (HPD) to enable the scoring and perforation of code numbers through multiple sheets of paper several millimeters thick.
