MACSA APPLICATION
Traceability in medical devices is crucial to ensure product authenticity, safety, and patient peace of mind.
Under the mandatory legislation of the EU Medical Devices Regulation 2017/745 and 2017/746, companies operating in this sector require reliable coding and marking systems to apply UDI (Unique Device Identifier) codes. These systems help guarantee product quality, regulatory compliance, and user safety.
Laser marking is the ideal solution for this application, as it provides durable, indelible marks, eliminating the need for adhesive labels that can peel off or deteriorate over time.
MACSA SOLUTION
The Macsa SPA2 DPSS Green laser, with its specific wavelength, offers high-definition, indelible marking, even on small surfaces. This laser can achieve high-contrast black marks on medical dispensers without the need for inks, removing the dependency on labels or external materials. In our tests, we produced three different marking sizes, adjusting each to the dimensions and characteristics of the specific marking area.
The laser marking process is non-invasive, preserving the product’s structure and surface integrity. The extreme durability of the marks ensures that critical information, such as DataMatrix codes, expiry dates, and manufacturing dates, remains legible throughout the product’s lifecycle. This robust marking capability enhances traceability and reduces the risk of counterfeiting.
