SPA2 Fiber Film delivers fiber laser coding for flexible packaging on selected printed films, pouches, trays and wraps. It applies variable information directly onto the pack without physical contact, supporting clear codes where packaging integrity is a critical requirement.
The system combines a 1,064 nm Ytterbium continuous-wave fiber laser with 20 W, 50 W and 100 W configurations. Macsa id evaluates the film structure, printed coding area, data to be marked and line conditions before defining the most suitable setup.
SPA2 Fiber Film is designed for flexible packaging applications where dates, batch data and traceability codes must be applied without transferring ink or ribbons to the pack.
It can be assessed for compatible printed, laminated and metallised film structures used in pouches, wraps, trays and other flexible packaging formats.
Typical coding content includes:
Where 2D codes support supply-chain traceability, their content and quality can be defined in line with applicable GS1 standards.
A readable code is only part of the requirement. Film composition, print layers, coatings, colour, coding window, speed and code size all affect the result.
For this reason, we validate the application on the real pack before implementation. The test allows us to assess code contrast, readability, package integrity and the parameters required for the production line.
The laser marks the selected coding area without pressing against the package. This is particularly relevant for thin or delicate packaging structures where physical contact or unsuitable laser settings could affect the pack.
SPA2 Fiber Film creates the code directly on the appropriate film or printed layer. This removes the need to transfer ink or thermal-transfer ribbon during the coding process and can simplify consumable handling on the line.
Macsa id’s DUO dual-processor technology supports the management of variable information at production speed. The final performance depends on the film, code content, optics and line conditions.
SPA2 Fiber Film can be integrated into automated packaging lines with TCP/IP as standard. Profinet and OPC-UA options are available when required by the automation architecture.
The system is available in configurations for standard, dusty and washdown environments:
The model, enclosure and integration accessories are selected according to the installation conditions.
SPA2 Fiber Film can be evaluated for applications such as:
Flexible packaging is not a single substrate. Some applications may be better suited to a fiber, CO₂ or UV laser, while others may require thermal transfer overprinting or another coding technology.
