iCON2

iCON2 is a small character CO₂ laser coder for permanent coding on suitable packaging and industrial products. It applies dates, batch numbers, references and traceability information directly onto the product or pack, without ink or ribbon transfer during the coding process.

The compact iCON2-10 configuration combines a 10 W CO₂ laser source, air cooling and integrated control components in one unit. Macsa id evaluates the material, code content, line speed and available space to confirm whether iCON2 is the right solution.

Small-character coding for packaging and products

iCON2 is suitable for applications that require clear, permanent variable data in a compact installation space.

Typical coding content includes:

• Batch, lot and production codes.
• Best-before and use-by dates.
• Product references and serialisation data.
• Simple barcodes and selected 2D codes.
• Logos and production information.

It can be assessed for suitable labels, carton, selected plastics, wood and textile applications. The final result depends on the substrate, colour, coating, code size and production conditions.

A compact alternative to inkjet coding

No ink or ribbon transferred during coding

The laser creates the code directly on the selected packaging surface. This removes the need to manage ink or thermal-transfer ribbon for the coding process and can reduce the risk of ink spills or consumable changes on the line.

Air-cooled, all-in-one configuration

iCON2 uses an air-cooled CO₂ laser system, so it does not require external compressed air or water cooling for standard operation. Its compact format can help when installation space is limited or the coding point is difficult to access.

Designed for production-line integration

iCON2 can code stationary or moving products when configured with the appropriate line-integration accessories. Options include photocell and encoder kits for synchronisation with the production process.

MarcaLite software and TCP/IP connectivity support message management and communication with the line. A touchscreen, external controller and other integration accessories can be specified according to the application.

Validate the material and coding requirement

Not every packaging material reacts in the same way to a CO₂ laser. Before implementation, Macsa id tests the real product or packaging to assess contrast, code quality, production speed and the most suitable installation position.

For applications with different material, speed or scalability requirements, another CO₂ solution such as SPA2 C or SPARK may be more appropriate. We assess the application before recommending a system.
